Clinical Skills Centre
Clinical Skills Centre
The Clinical Skills Centre (CSC) is an RVC inspired development that began its life in an adapted building on campus in 2004. It was the first veterinary CSC of its kind in the UK and as such has become the blueprint for other veterinary schools setting up similar centres.
The RVC was awarded a HEFCE grant of £4.5 million to create the LIVE centre with the centrepiece being the 2 new CSC labs. The CSC moved into the LIVE building in Dec ’06. Since then the CSC staff have continued with the development of various clinical teaching tools to enable the students to have a more hands on learning experience. The centre is rapidly becoming an important focus for practical teaching within the RVC.
The labs are used in a variety of ways, including as a setting for the OSPVEs (Objective Structured Clinical Veterinary Examinations), CPD courses, modular teaching and of course as a daily drop-in centre for students to practice their Clinical Skills in a friendly environment.
