MSc in Veterinary Education
The MSc in Veterinary Education is a unique, innovative programme specifically developed at the RVC. The programme, launched in September 2009, harnesses the expertise of educators at the LIVE (Lifelong Independent Veterinary Education) Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning and is lead by the Course Director, Dr Ayona Silva-Fletcher. This exciting programme offers training in educational theory and practice for anyone involved in veterinary and para-veterinary education (e.g lecturing staff, post-doctoral workers, PhD students, clinical educators and technical teaching staff). There is a flexible programme of study targeted at both new and experienced staff with multiple entry routes and alternative progression pathways. Educators may attend workshop days as CPD, or individuals may register for the Postgraduate Certificate, before moving onto the Postgraduate Diploma and then the Masters in Veterinary Education.
The Postgraduate Certificate, which commenced in September 2010, has been accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA), so individuals who obtain the PGCert will automatically become Fellows of the HEA. Associate membership of the HEA (AHEA) is also available which will be of specific interest to individuals involved in teaching to a lesser degree, but who may not be directly involved in areas such as curriculum planning, assessment, feedback and evaluation.
