This project, funded by an award granted under the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme, aims to investigate the role of web 2.0 technologies (for example, wikis and blogs) in supporting informal, lifelong learning. Specifically, the project seeks to develop a strong online community of practice (CoP) involving veterinary students and practitioners throughout Europe, supported by ICT educationalists in each of the participating institutions. The project’s website www.noviceproject.eu will become the central point of the community with links to web 2.0 technologies that will facilitate discussion and the exchange of knowledge between members from different countries and with different levels and areas of expertise; but all with common interests.
Who Can Get Involved?

The project officially began with a kick off meeting in Utrecht on 21-22nd January 2010 for ICT educationalists. In the photograph you can see some of the educationalists who attended. NOVICE is just starting out, and if you are a veterinary student or practitioner and would like to join our growing community, please go to the project website www.noviceproject.eu. There you can create an account (it’s free and easy!) which will allow you to link with other people with similar interests throughout Europe. The RVC project team members are Sarah Baillie, Vicki Dale, Nick Short, Stephen May, Tierney Kinnison and Peter Nunn. One of the RVC’s main responsibilities will be to carry out stakeholder consultation, in terms of conducting needs analyses and interim and final evaluations, using questionnaires and focus groups.
