You are invited to join us at the Centre for Excellence in Lifelong Independent Veterinary Education (LIVE) for a Symposium on “Learning to teach and teaching to learn: New pathways for veterinary education” on September 1st and 2nd, 2010, to be held at the Royal Veterinary College, North Mymms, Hatfield, AL9 7TA.

The Symposium will feature keynote speakers Professor Peter van Beukelen (University of Utrecht, NL), Dame Lesley Southgate, Professor of Medical Education (St George’s, University of London, UK), and Professor Stephen May (Royal Veterinary College, UK), and will provide delegates with opportunities for stimulating discussion and debate with national and international colleagues.

Proposals for our poster sessions on the first afternoon are invited from all across the veterinary profession, and could include innovative teaching and learning, elements of educational research, or examples of the support and development of good teaching practice. Deadline for submission of poster abstracts is 28th May 2010. For more information about submitting an abstract please download documentation or contact us at info@live.ac.uk.

This is an opportunity for researchers to present on some of the ‘hot pedagogical issues’ in veterinary education, such as curriculum development in veterinary schools or further development of professional and ethical skills, and we hope to be able to focus on a range of issues which underpin the transformative potential of veterinary education.

Please also note that there will be a small registration charge to contribute towards the costs of this event. Places will be limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment!
