Summary
Stephanie graduated with an Honours in Palaeontology BSc degree (2000) from the University of Alberta, Canada. Directly following this, she pursued an MSc degree by research in Systematics and Evolution (2003) at the University of Alberta studying the anatomy and evolutionary relationships of extinct marine lizards. Her love of vertebrate evolution brought her to the University of Bristol, UK in 2003 where she embarked on a PhD degree (2007) which focused on assessing the interplay between skull shape variation and biomechanical performance in extant and extinct crocodiles. Stephanie’s thesis was very well received by the scientific community and has culminated in multiple peer-reviewed publications.
Stephanie joined the LIVE team in March 2008. Her research skills and university teaching experience are being drawn on to further the research agenda of the LIVE Centre. Stephanie is primarily working with Vicki Dale on delineating the motivations underlying career choice and engagement in Continual Professional Development. Alongside this, Stephanie is working with Sarah Baillie on using the Haptic Cow simulator in role play scenarios to encourage students to integrate knowledge and clinical/practical skills, and Kim Whittlestone on evaluating the correlation between student performance and their dominant approach to study. Stephanie can also be found, from time-to-time, assisting other members of staff with their research objectives.
