Birgit Pirkelbauer graduated from the Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg in Austria 1998. She holds a Mag phil. degree in Communication Science and in English and Spanish literature and language studies and completed her master thesis on “Risk Communication on BSE – A Comparative Media Study”.
Right after finishing her degree she started as a Test and Learning Centre Manager for Prometric Inc, the world leader in test delivery software production, which is part of the Thomson Learning Group. Birgit was Operations Manager for Austria and has been involved in the project management of various global software development projects, supervising training and implementation of new assessment structures (such as TOEFL and GMAT examination software).
She has also worked on various European Union-funded knowledge transfer projects to support change in higher education institutions, especially in Eastern Europe. In September 2005 Birgit started as the LIVE Centre Manager at the RVC and is responsible for all communication and operational aspects of the CETL.
Birgit holds a strong track record in successful project delivery and passionately believes that it is necessary to absorb a wide range of influences, to enable the full exploration of an educational or professional path.
