LIVE is a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) based at the Royal Veterinary College, London.

Our Aims: To ensure that veterinary education meets the needs of capable committed, independent learners, from entry to retirement through an innovative programme of educational development and research.

Transformation: LIVE is in the business of Linking Innovative Veterinary Educators! We want to work with all those interested in researching and developing innovative teaching and learning methods in veterinary science education. Our motivation to enhance and transform student learning is evidenced in our ongoing projects such as “VetConnect” (a clinical activity tool) where we explore the role of mobile technologies in enhancing student learning.

Lifelong and Independent: We are committed to preparing students for both independent and lifelong learning. Our educational / pedagogical research aims to empower self-motivated learners, capable of identifying and satisfying their individualised learning needs.

Clinical Skills: The clinical environment is an increasingly complex workplace which presents a challenge to student learning. The Clinical Skills Centre, housed within the LIVE Building, supports the training of skills in a variety of contexts including clinical, Day One, and communication. The CSC team are dedicated to best practice in this innovative teaching and learning environment. The Centre also focuses on research and development in the field of education, including haptic simulations which are used in clinical training.

Professional Judgment and Reasoning LIVE aims to embrace best teaching and learning practice from across the international higher education arena. With a strong focus on practitioner engagement in continuing professional development (CPD), LIVE takes a close look into the development of professional skills for veterinary, para-veterinary and animal science students, in an increasingly competitive employment environment.
