Competencies in Veterinary Education

Our Danish colleagues held a one-day workshop on Competencies in Veterinary Education at the Copenhagen Veterinary School on the 14th November 2013, arranged by Peter Holm with 65 veterinary and medical teachers. After presentations outlining what competencies are and how they are used in medical education in Denmark, Kim was invited to talk about the challenge of engaging students in day one skills. Small groups then discussed the practical implementation steps and opportunities for students, staff and the institution using a World Cafe approach of rotating around groups after 20 minutes. A lively discussion ended the day and hopefully started the process of introducing competencies into the Danish veterinary curriculum.
